Our streamlined design and build process makes it easy for our clients, who we work with hand in hand every step of the way.
Step 1: Initial Meeting
Preliminary Information
To get started, we will want to know some preliminary information about your project. This includes your location, a general idea of your project, desired start date, your target budget, and more. You can set up an appointment by calling us at 330-730-1731, or by filling out our online questionnaire.
First Visit
On the scheduled date and time, we will come to your home to meet with you, listen to your ideas, and discuss your project further. We sketch, take measurements and photos to assist with the design work.
Typically, this first meeting is an enjoyable experience where we brainstorm ideas about what’s possible and get to know each other.
Prior to this meeting, we recommend thinking through your project and what you want the end result to be. A great way to get started is by going to Houzz.com and browsing through photos to look for ideas.
Step 2: Preliminary Plan & Estimate
The Plan For The Plan
We take what we learned in our initial meeting and determine what it will take to do the design work for your project. We’ll give you a detailed description of the scope of work that will take place, as well as a ballpark estimate of the overall cost of your project.
Design Fee
Before beginning the detailed design work for your project, we may require you to pay a design fee to cover the costs of the design work.
We often get asked how much the design fee is for a typical project. While of course this varies based on the size and scale of your vision, it typically falls in the $250-2000 range.
What Our Clients Are Saying
D.R. Miller Design Build isa top-notch firm in every way. From planning and scheduling, through demolition and rebuild of my 2 bathrooms, you had only the best skilled people doing the work. I knew from your proposal what the costs would be. You came in on time and on Budget. I’m totally pleased with the job you did!
Step 3: Full Plan & Estimate
Detailed Design
This is when the magic starts to happen! We take stock of everything we’ve learned about you, your home, and your vision and fully synthesize it into a working design and plan. We will give you multiple design options when appropriate. You will be fully involved in this process, giving feedback and direction where necessary.
Full Estimate and Scope of Work
Along with the detailed design, we put together the final estimate and scope of work. We will also provide a timeline so you have an idea of how long the project will take. This is always subject to change depending on various factors, but in general this timeline tends to be fairly close to the actual duration.
We will go over final scope of work with you line by line so you’ll know exactly what you’re getting.
3D Renderings
Along with detailed floor plans and elevations, we provide 3D renderings for our clients. The renderings allow you to visualize the end result of your remodeling project beyond what is possible with traditional drawings and sketches.
Step 4: Selection
Choices Choices!
Once the plan is completed and the contract signed, we will work with you to select and make choices about every aspect of your project. Examples include countertops, flooring, plumbing fixtures, windows, doors, paint colors, and many more.
At times, making selection decisions can feel overwhelming, but we can provide guidance through the selection process to make it a non-stressful experience. To make these types of choices, we will direct you to one or multiple design centers so you can see, touch, and feel your options.
